Virgil van Dijk is on Pep Guardiola’s radar according to the Guardian newspaper. But Southampton’s valuation of £70m might be a stumbling block even for Manchester City’s mega rich owners. Pep is on the look out for another central defender and the Dutch star is high on his list, but City might be unwilling to pay the huge fee.

If they fail in their attempt to sway Southampton into selling, City might opt for Real Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez. The Spaniard, whose contract contains a release clause set at €32m, would be something of a comparative bargain compared to van Djik, and with both players roughly the same age, Martinez might be the man to join City.

Internazionale will let João Cancelo return to Valencia and sign Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona if the Spanish club sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. This in turn would prompt Liverpool to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco, though if Coutinho doesn’t go to Barç. The Catalan giants will move instead for their second-choice creative player in Mesut Özil of Arsenal.

Manchester United are also keen on Ozil. The only problem there could be José Mourinho needs to trim his squad before signing any new players, especially a big deal one that Ozil will command. Mourinho will try and sell i Henrik Mkhitaryan, who has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford. They paid £30m for him and they are confident they can get that back.

According to Antonio Conte, Chelsea are very tired. And with some of the teams performances, you wouldn’t disagree with him. So, the Italian is looking to bolster his squad, and Thomas Lemar is on his shopping list.

the champions-for-not-much-longer have entered the race for our old friend from the summer, Thomas Lemar, and Chelsea could face competition from Liverpool and Arsenal for Lemar.

Chelsea’s are also keen on Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, with an opening bid apparently being rejected. Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona are others keeping their eyes on the situation, as the flying winger is creating interest from all over Europe.
