My Food Series #3; Preparing Akara (Bean cake)
Akara can be very stressful and time-consuming while preparing but one thing you should not forget is the fact that it is delicious and nutritious. Do not think because it is stressful mean it will be expensive to prepare, Akara (Bean cake) is not expensive, it is very affordable.
In Nigeria, Women do Akara for their family members and also to sell. At this same most restaurants and fast-foods now sell Akara. Akara can be eaten with Bread, Pap, Garri and Custard.
Ingredients
Black-eyed Beans, Seasoning cube, Pepper, Onion, Vegetable Oil
Method
The beans are washed and peeled
Slice onion Bulbs into peeled Beans
- Grind Beans to paste
Mix the grinded beans with seasoning cube, salt, and peper moderately.
Scoop the grinded beans into balls with a spoon and deep fry
Do not fry for over 3 minutes as the Akara may start gettng burnt.
Your delicious prioteinous Akara is ready to serve and enjoy.
