Today, March 18, the all time favorite chicken is back in Dagupan! Because today is the opening of Max's restaurant with its new location.
Max's Restaurant's beginnings started in 1945, after World War II. Maximo Gimenez, a Stanford-educated teacher, befriended the American occupation troops stationed at Quezon City. Because of this friendship, the soldiers regularly visited Maximo's nearby home for a drink or two. Later on, the troops insisted that they pay for their drinks.This prompted Maximo to open a cafe, where the troops could enjoy food and drinks. It opened its first restaurant at 21 South F Street (now Scout Tuason), Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City.
Family's All Time Favorite
As I remember it right, since I was a kid, everytime we are going to Manila, our trip won't be complete without eating at Max's restaurant. Because this is my mother's favorite restaurant, ever since she was still college. She always tell us, she will save money from her allowance just to eat in Max's, which was near her school back then. That is how she love their chicken. I admit it, for me nothing can still beat their fried chicken.
Good thing, today Max's group of company decided to have a branch near our place. So today, we don't want to missed this opening day of our favourite restaurant. So after attending circuit assembly, we had our dinner there. After long line of waiting for our turn to have our table to be setup, finally we had a sumptuous dinner plus a free dessert given by the manager.
