Delicious Malaysian Hawker Food at Jalan Alor Food Street
A well known Satay Dish that we ordered for yesterday's night dinner at Jalan Alor.
This is a well known tourist attraction that almost all tourists will visit when they land in Kuala Lumpur.
The sauce for the Satay (grilled meat on skewers) is make up of peanut with spicy chilli. We ordered Chicken Satay and Lamb Satay.
The condiments they have for Satay are fresh onions, cucumber and ketuput (steamed rice).
Penang fried Kway Teow is another popular dish sold at Jalan Alor. Kway Teow is rice noodle fried with cockles, Lap Cheong (Chinese Sausages), bean sprouts, fish paste and small prawns. They have fried this dish too spicy for me but my family love it.
This dish is called Lor Mee. It is a soupy dish, lots of gravy make from fish base. The Mee is the thicker yellow noodle they used and the ingredients are pork meat, prawns, fish paste, cuttlefish, seasonal vegetables and pork lark. The gravy has an beaten egg that make the gravy sauce smooth and creamy.
This dish is my favourite as I love this vegetable known as Chinese Spinach. Similar to the English Spinach but thicker and crunchy and more fibre. The stock is from small dried fish, and garlic. They put in Black Century Egg, Wolfberries and fried dried small fish as toppings. These ingredients make the soup very sweet and tasty and wonderfully delicious.
These are the olden days cutlery soup bowls make of porcelain. I was surprised they are using them as was expecting them to use plastic ones to prevent breakage with all the high volume of handling them.
The Satay stall that we ordered our Satay from. A typical road side hawker stall along Jalan Alor.
