Indian food is very popular all over the world, it is known to be very delicious and filled with spicy flavors and many of love Indian food because of their hot, spicy and flavorful taste. There are so many people that really love Indian food and wish they could prepare those delicious dishes at home, but on the other hand they are usually worried about the difficulty is finding the ingredients. I have prepared this post for all of us(Lovers of Indian cuisines) to know the basic essential spices and ingredients to keep in our kitchen so that we could have our all our favorite Indian delicacies at home at any time.

All Indian spices have different flavors and can make food to be more delicious when combined. When you have all these ingredients in you kitchen you are sure to prepare those delicious Indian delicacies with  all those flavors of India in them  and you could never  go wrong. Most of all, many of the spices used to prepare Indian food come with a lot of health benefits, so you could make it a habit of cooking with these spices as they are not just delicious but they also make you healthier. These spices are quite easy to get, you can find the in you supermarkets, and others can even be found in your local markets.


Cinnamon

Cinnamon bread is one of the most delicious pastries that I can think of. the taste of cinnamon is very unique, it goes quite well with sweet food and it is totally unforgettable. Cinnamon sticks and cinnamon powder is usually used to enhance the aroma of Indian Food, it is very essential to have this in your kitchen because it is used to cook different types of Indian traditional dishes. The best thing about this spice is that, it also has different health benefits, it can be prepared as tea at night which can help you to sleep better and even help with weight loss. Cinnamon grounded or sticks can be used in preparing food like Curry Lentil stew, Biryani, Roasted chickpeas, Bhuna Gosht and many other delicious foods. This ingredient is very easy to find as it is also used for other purposed like baking and making desserts. Cinnamon is one of those ingredients that is so easy to love!


Cloves

Cloves are very popular and is found in different Indian food mix like garam masala, five spice, and other ingredients, it has a very distinct flavor that is very delicious when added to soups, stews, and even grilled food. Generally, when this spices it prepare in food, it gives the food strong fragrance and has a sweet and peppery taste. Cloves are not just herbs but they have other uses. Besides making food to be aromatic and flavorful, cloves are used for healthy purposes because they contain antiseptic and anti-parasitic properties. They can aid in digestive problems. Cloves also has been used in production of mouthwash and toothpaste because it contains germicidal properties that can help to maintain  healthy teeth and gums.


Chile Peppers

Chile peppers make food hot, spicy and delicious. There are different types of Chile peppers that are used for preparing Indian cuisines, some are used mainly to add flavor to the food and are not very hot, and others are very hot and can increase your appetite to eat. Chile peppers can serve different purposes weather fresh or dry and grounded. They can be used to prepare vegetables, soups, stews, sauces and  even when boiling meat to make it more tasty. Chile peppers can make food very appetizing and should be used in accordance with your pepper tolerance. Chile Peppers are very easy to get, you ca find them at your local markets and supermarkets.


Cardamom

Cardamom is a very popular spice, it is made up seed from plants that grow in India, cardamom is used in preparation of different Indian delicacies like chicken curry, Basmati rice, Lamb Tagine, and many other delicioius foods. There are two types of Cardamom, the black Cardamom and the green Cardamom, it can be used whole or ground, it is also blended or grounded and used in the preparation of the popular garam masala mix. It is very essential to have Cardamom in your kitchen whenever  you want to prepare your favorite Indian dish.


Turmeric

There is a whole lot that you can do with turmeric; just like curry, turmeric can also be used to cook a wide variety of Indian dished including curry, Gobi sabji, vegetarian korma etc.  Turmeric can also be used to add flavor and color to different delicacies, it is also part of the Garam Masala ingredients, Turmeric can be used fresh or dried  and blended, it has  been known to be a very powerful antioxidant that can cleanse the body and it can work wonders in maintaining and improving brain health conditions. This substance is very powerful  and has a lot of health benefits, not only as a food spice but also part of our daily life at it will help improve various health conditions. Those who know the wonders of turmeric always keep this spice at home in very large quantities as it is part of their daily routine to drink it as tea for several reasons mostly for the betterment of their health.


Cumin

In India cumin seed is often refered to as Jeera. Its oily in nature and has a remarkable slighty bitter taste. A huge variety of Indian dishes are prepared using Cumin. Cumin is also one of those very healthy spices, besides adding incredible taste to your cooking, it is also beneficial to one health, cumin extract can help diabetic patients and also help to improve the immune system. There are a lot more benefits of Cumin to the health. Keep  Cumin in you kitchen so you could prepare those perfectly delicious Indian cuisines like stews, soups and curry dishes.

Curry

When you hear Curry, you ca quickly think of your favorite curry dish. Curry is a very important spice to keep in you kitchen because it is used to make a wide variety of Indian dishes. Some of these popular curry dished are Chicken curry, Beef curry, Vegetable curry, Chicken Korma, Roast chicken, Butter chicken and so many other dishes. Curry is very popular in India, it makes food to very tasty, delicious and appetizing. It is very important to have Curry at home at all times because it is one ingredient that can be used for spicing up your cooking and adding more taste to your food; like broth, when  curry is used to cook broth, it gives the food more taste and aroma. Indian foods cooked with Curry tend to be a bit hot and spicy, that even makes the food more enjoyable that you wouldn't get tired of eating it.

All the ingredients stated above are some of the important ingredients that you should always have keep at home, it would save you a lot of time and give you ideas for Indian dishes to prepare as each spice is unique and a combination of many of these spices is what makes Indian food incredibly delicious. Other Spices you can keep at  home are;

Bay leaves

Black Pepper

and many other spices. These spices really spice up your cooking  and gives it that unforgettable flavor.

Haldi (Turmeric) is also used as Antiseptic. Often applied on cuts.

Turmeric really has a lot of health benefits and i drink it every night with some milk, i feel like a new born baby in the morning. I have also heard about lots of stories of how turmeric has helped in the healing of so many ailments. It is like a gift to humanity.

I went to Malaysia and they have a lot of Indian food overthere! Definitely one of my favorite kitchens with all those spices!

thats true, malaysia had a lot of delicious delicacies, am even having thoughts of doing some discovery in malay cuisines. Malaysia is so rich with asia culture filled with people from all parts of Asia and the world. Can't wait to start some discovery.

To my opinion, the indian cuisine is better than the malaysian! But there are a lot of indian people in malaysia who brought amazing tasting food!
