Great Egg Substitutes for Vegans and Others

in #food4 years ago

You could be a vegan, or a vegetarian, or maybe you just wanna try to add something other than eggs in a recipe. In this article, I’m going to go over some of the creative ways to substitute eggs in cool dishes that turn out great. some of the substitutes and food dishes mentioned are some I’ve tried that turned out great, but some I’ve heard of on the internet that seem interesting enough to try out. It's a mixture of both. Without further ado, I present to you

Egg substitutes:

AVOCADOS:

Avocados are amazing egg substitutes. Even to me at first they tasted kind of like an egg to me. But they go great as a substitute in many recipes you would add eggs to. Here are some examples:
Sandwiches
Chip dips
Salads
Eggs benedict (avocado benedict!?)
Cakes
Though, in backing, avocados may make cakes and brownies softer in the middle due to there softer teture than eggs. Besides that I think avocados are great and do good in many dishes.

FLAX SEEDS AND CHIA SEEDS

Flax seeds and chia seeds can be used in place of eggs for many baked goods as well as starchy foods like pancakes and bread!

I have once grounded up some flax seeds to make a new-year's day cake and it turned out delicious! (if you don’t mind a crumbly cake that up close smells like flax-seeds.) to make these seeds an egg substitute, they are grounded first.

THINGS FLAX SEEDS AND CHIA SEEDS GO GREAT IN:
Baked goods (exp: cake, brownies, cupcakes)
Pancakes
Bread

3.) Honey!

If you are a vegan, this may not be the choice for you. Though for vegetarians and others Honey is another great substitute for eggs, as it has a similar consistency to eggs that holds things like cake batter together.

THINGS HONEY GOES GREAT IN:
Quick bread
Cornbread
Baked goods (exp: cake, brownies, cupcakes)

The rest of this article focuses on baking sweets and treats with egg substitutes just FYI

4.) APPLE SAUCE!
This egg substitute I would say is mainly a baking substitute for cupcakes and pastries and stuff along that line. But it works fine as my family has tried this as an egg substitute for brownies and it worked… though the brownie tasted more like solid fudge pudding than a brownie to me. But my family enjoyed it, so apple sauce has been proven to work as an egg substitute!

Other baking substitutes:
Yo-gurt
Mashed banana
Pumpkin puree

Hope you found a few egg substitutes that you will use! If you did, upvote this post and comment how you did in the comments section, I like to hear the cool ways people cook without the use of eggs

I also have an article about lots of meat substitutes as well. You can find that here! https://www.naturalmedicine.io/hive-120078/@restcity/great-meat-substitutes-for-vegans-and-others
