Artificial hamburger meat coming to a store near you within the next few years

in #food6 years ago

According to this article (in Norwegian), the Ducth scientist Peter Verstrate and his company are researching ways to produce artificial meat. The process for producing artificial meat is nicely summed up in this figure:

Today's production of meat is a major contributor to emission of climate gases, antibiotic resistance and deforestation. By shifting our meat production over to artificial meat instead, we'll drastically reduse all these negative side effects of meat consumption. According to mr. Verstrate:

If we use the whole cow, we can make enough meat to produce 175 million hamburgers. Or save the life of 440.000 cows.

So producting artificial meat based off one single cow, can produce as much food as 440.000 cows using today's production method.

Good to see you back after a few months. Look forward to some more posts - hopefully can include one in the next MAP32 contest for "new" MAP members.

Thanks for noticing! Hopefully I'll have time to contribute more frequently, and even participate in an upcoming MAP-content.
