VEGEMITE BLEND 17 - Could this be very profitable for the average punter?

YES, they have decided to meddle with our favourite spread again! Some Companies never learn.
But, there could be an upside to this which I'll explain later on.

First, let's have a look at the product:

As you can see it comes in fancy black and gold box to match the labelling and lid of the jar.
The Company states that they only manufactured 450,000 of this special limited edition.

So why did they call it BLEND 17? Quite simple really - it's made in 2017.

On the box it states "Crafted for a richer VEGEMITE experience with a bolder finish".
So far, all the taste test reviews I've read by seasoned Vegemite lovers are saying that people can't tell the difference from the original recipe. (some say it seems more salty).

So let's compare the ingredients and see what that shows up?

Well, the ingredients are the same!
There are some minor differences on the nutritional chart.
Slightly less ENERGY - 36kj v 40kj.
Slightly more DIETARY FIBRE - 0.4g v 0.3g.
Slightly less SODIUM 165mg v 173mg. (that debunks the theory that it's more salty)

Overall, you would have to conclude it's the same product, or a very close version of it.

So is it just another marketing ploy? It certainly looks like it to me!
Same product in a fancy new jar and box with a fancy new name?

The biggest difference is the price - the new one retails for about $7 for a 150g jar which is almost double the price of the same size regular version.
(I got mine for $5 on special at the local supermarket)

Of course, "it went straight to the bar" to join its cousins.

This is where my title to this post comes in - "Could this be very profitable for the average punter?"

Some entreprising individuals are selling these on ebay.
ebay link 1 - $20 each - sold 21 - Profit $315
ebay link 2 - $22.45 each - sold 13 - Profit $226.85

These people are making between 200% and 400% profit!

You would have to assume the price will increase as they sell out and become more scarce?
Or will the novelty wear off??

Now I'm thinking...........should I go back to the supermarket and stock up on some before they all sell out???
