Smoking cigarettes can be one of the hardest to get rid of. However, there are some foods that can assist you to get rid of this habit.

Ginseng

A study published in the Journal of Ginseng Research found that ginseng helps block dopamine release, a substance that makes you feel better when you smoke. When used regularly, ginseng can reduce the sense of excitement you get when smoking.

Celery, cucumber and carrot

Vegetables such as celery, cucumber and carrots can leave a bitter aftertaste when eaten before smoking, thus helping you quit smoking. Researchers also found that eating a variety of these vegetables also reduced nicotine dependence.

Foods rich in vitamin C

Smoking causes you to suffer from vitamin C deficiency, resulting in nicotine withdrawal. So be sure to eat plenty of vitamin C-rich foods such as oranges, guava and berries.

A study published in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine found that when trying to quit, you may experience more withdrawal symptoms, and nausea is a sign of that. Ginger can help eliminate excess toxins from the body.
