SPIRULINA : 5 reasons to use this superfood everyday!!!steemCreated with Sketch.

Dear steemit friends !

You have probably hearted this name "SPIRULINA" !

It's a microorganism called blue algae. It belongs to the class of cyanophyceae, a primitive form of life. This is a mix of algae and bacteria and grows in both salty, fresh and alkaline water. The blue-green deep rich color of spirulina is caused by the presence of a specific pigment called phycocyanin.

After researching about this superfood, I will give you 5 reasons to consume spirulina every day!

1- An excellent protein source

Spirulina contains 50%-70% protein by weight and contains all of the essential amino acids.
Some serious studies claim that just two tablespoons are sufficient to substitute protein in a meal.

A little tip: Spirulina is not cheap, so you can add other protein-based sources like whole grains, quinoa, legumes, and nuts.

2- Rich in Vitamins and Minerals

It's a good source of K vitamin, potassium, and pantothenic acid (B5), as well as thiamin (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), copper, iron, and manganese.

It's a good source of B vitamin, but what makes spirulina exceptional is the B12 vitamin found in it.

B12 is important for vision, anti-depression and mental abilities in general.

3- Fights Allergies

Millions of people are having problems and irritations from allergies to mites, pet dander, pollen...

Some studies suggest that spirulina stops the release of histamine, which is responsible for symptoms of allergic rhinitis: stuffy nose, watery eyes, itchy throat, sneezing, nasal congestion, nasal itching, and nasal discharge.

4- Cholesterol regulator

Cholesterol can be regulated with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Spirulina can low bad cholesterol to prevent a heart attack or stroke.
It's better than taking medications with side effects.

5- boosts Immunity

Spirulina, with its potent nutrients, can boost your immune system function and prevent the development of viral infections. Phycocyanin (the bright blue antioxidant) increases the number of white blood cells in the body and make him strong.

Antibodies protect your body from foreign invaders and bacteria, and you are healthy all the year !!!

Conclusion

If you want to boost your health every day, spirulina is your new best friend ^^.
As I am intolerant to lactose, gluten and glucose, I have to consume superfoods every day to stay fit and train. I added spirulina powder in my smoothies and it's perfect...

So start to use spirulina in your life and see how much better you feel!

Thank you so much @opc! 😊😊😊

David Wolfe has been really into the color of foods lately and will be releasing a book in the future called The Color Cure. Anyways, he says it's one of the most amazing discoveries he's made in his career (and that's saying a LOT!) and he found that the blue pigment, such as the phycocyanin in spirulina, is the best color. It's really rare too. So rare that plants usually fake it.

Blue-green algae, such as E3 Live, actually has twice the amount of the blue pigment though, but still spirulina is an excellent source of it and a fraction of the price.

I currently use a super greens... Can you tell me a little about the flavor? What it combos best with? What benefits have you noticed for yourself? Thanks so much for your reply!

I don't like spirulina powder. I buy the tablets and take those, because the powder doesn't taste good (to me). The only way I've found I like, strangely enough, is to put it in homemade salad dressings. For some reason it's a hit :)

I've also used it in powder form during a juice fast because if you're really feeling like you need to eat, but don't want to break your fast, spirulina can save the day. I've literally gotten a natural high from it.

Ok awesome I'll look Into those!

Spirulina powder taste is special (salty as sea water a little). That's why I put a small dose in my smoothies (1/2 teaspoon). And I add: broccoli, kale and seasonals fruits (apple, pear or bananas). If you don't like the taste of powder, don't worrie, the tablets is the same thing (same benefits of course).

Since I use Spirulina, I am much less ill (cold ...). I consume power or tablets before sport/danse class, for its protein intake. I train better and recover faster (less muscular pain). If you need more information, don't hesitate @xana0815.
Sorry for my bad english. I try to improve step by step...^^

Haha, I know lots of people who speak English as their first languafe that are way worse then this.. 😁

Thanks Google Translate...🙈🙉🙈

Dude ! These are my words !!! :p

I selected the 5 main benefits but there are others ... And do you know Chlorella @aser1111 ???

I have never heard of this before, but it looks interesting - something to consider in the future.

spirulina and chlorella are considered the best super foods of the 21st century !!! I'm glad to share this with you !!! 😊

Totally right I advise my client to use it in my little store

Awesome ! Here is your store ???

What qualifies a food as a "super food"? Isn't that just a word marketers use to help promote certain products?

I think David Wolfe coined the term, or at least made it famous in his book Superoods. It's has top 10 foods from around the world, five 5 other notable ones. I have summary of it here.

Thank you @arevolution for share this really interesting information !

all I know is spirulina is good for our health.

I just posted a green smoothie recipe that contains either spirulina or chlorella. I prefer chlorella because it has more nutrients, but I also use spirulina as it is almost a good as chlorella. Spirulina is cheaper than chlorella, so when on a tight budget I always choose spirulina over chlorella. Nice piece, good refresher, thanks

Thanks @chefshobhan for your comment. I just posted a blog about chlorella that I knew less. I invite you to read it 😉 I will read your blog about the green smoothie 😊

thank you. I have just got back on here after a long break. But must get some more stuff going on here.
