Ulog #63: Fried Savory Radish Cakes
This is a fried savory dish of radish cakes cut into cubes. It's another favorite and signature here in Penang, Malaysia and many love this as much as the locals do.
This dish is called 'Char Kuey Kak'. I don't really go for this dish but my wife and parents love this. The best I ever had was in Kedah's capital, Alor Setar which I can't remember where as I was just a little kid back then when I had a plate of it.
You can however still find similar tasting ones and just as good if you hunt them down. This 1 here is from 'Pulau Tikus' where my mum is from.
Its fried with bean sprouts, garlic, soy sauce, eggs and some places have preserved chinese vegies in it. It's very similar to the 'Char Kuey Teow' which I prefer it over this one but it is a hearty meal as well and if you're wanting something delicious and filling, you can go for this one.
Whatever it is, Penang is truly the land of really good street food. It should definitely be a destination if you're ever on a holiday here in Malaysia.
