Feeding 3 children on a budget. scary pasta hot-dog spiders
Today's challenge, feed 3 hungry little monsters on a budget
Today I had to create some food for 3 hungry kids, I know it's not hard to do but this was a bigger challenge than expected.
My friend @wrongjohn has moved into his new house with his son and I am looking after the wee lad for the week.
Because he has only just moved in he had none of the main Items to cook with, but as a trained chef I was able to put something together for the kids.
Scary spider hot-dog pasta with cheese.
So challenge one, to open a tin of hot-dogs, how do you open a tin with no tin opener?
Well, I had to use a knife as this was all I had to hand. I started hammering away on the side of the tin so I could get to the goodies on the inside.
I cut the hot-dogs into 3,
then pushed spaghetti through the hot-dog like in the picture
challenge two, how to cook spaghetti with no pots or pans.
No pots or pans, I looked in all the drawers including his underwear drawers and found nothing except for this paella pan so I had to make do with that.
I got the water boiling
then added the spaghetti and hot dogs to the pan.
Then I took the chance to take some pictures of the pan while everything was cooking nicely
a quick stir and the pasta was starting to soften
and continued to cook for a further 5 to 6 minutes.
Challenge 3.
how to drain water from a boiling pot with no sift. this was a challenge and a half. so to do this I used a plate, popped it over the top of the pasta and poured the water out.
it was then serving time.
My youngest daughter didn't want cheese as she can be fussy about what she eats she named the dish as she thinks that they look like scary spiders.

The bonus of it all, I said to them, I have fed you, now you have to do the washing up.
So one washed the other dried and the other put away.
If this was for me and my wife I would have added other things to the dish, things you can try is-
cream cheese and bacon.
fresh tomatoes and basil
Recipe and price they cost
dried spaghetti 42p
2 tins of hot dogs 49p per tin 2 tins used 98p
cheese. £2.00 per bag of cheese and about a quarter of a bag = 75p
Total for today's tea = £2.15
each portion came to 72p average.
This is so simple to do and anyone can do it. Why not give it a try your self,
all photos took from my s7, at the time of cooking.
No children were hurt while making this dish.
Think this recipe was fun? Do you want to see more? Why not give me a follow for more budget recipes.
thank you for reading my food blog
Cute idea, never saw something like that, good Halloween dish.
could add ketchup for blood, make it really scary :)
I've seen the pics before, but have never tried this idea. Looks great and I think my kids will like it. Plus, I love cheap eats too!
Thanks for sharing. :D
It is really nice, I have pictures of the kids eating it too, but my wife was like your not sharing it on social media so I could only share the images I took today.
Give it a go, post about it and share me a link, I'd love to hear about it. :)
