21 Picture tour (with comments) of My New Gym
When I first started working out, it was at a YMCA. I was in high school and didn't know a dumbbell from a squat rack. Noone really showed me HOW to workout correctly.. I did get 1 half hour session where some guy who I guess was a trainer showed me a routine to do each workout.. 3 times a week. I remember it vaguely.. warm-up and some stretches, then some weight machines. I tried it for a couple weeks then gave up.
The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) only had a small one room gym with about 5 exercise machines in it so it's not fair to compare it to this gym, but i'll show you now.. it has a bit more than 5 machines..
First thing, the name of the gym
I also noticed the carpeted floor and that there is light, but nice air conditioning in there. The smiling faces of the staff were also quite nice :)
Right by the door and the first nice thing that sets this gym off is this very cool weight and bodyfat scale
First machine we come to is this nice looking pulldown
Just to the left is a nice open area for floor work. (and did you notice the punching bag? cool!)
Towards the rear is this row of treadmills, steppers, and bikes
Ahhhhh, one of my favorites.. the seated press. (I just never liked laying down flat, like on a regular bench press.. it's no fun when your supposed to be workout buddy flakes on you and you try to bench alone and get the wind knocked out of you as the bar drops onto your belly.)
This is my go to cardio machine. (look at that big screen.. can you watch movies on there?)
Nice looking cage here. Lots of different exercises can be done, safely, using this piece of equipment.
Assisted pullups & dips anyone?
Row, row, row your boat time? Here's another one I always do..
Many gyms (or at least the really junk ones) have no bathroom or shower. There you are, working out hard when nature calls.. do you just clench and hold till you get home? Have no fear, this gym has several bathrooms (all unisex and with a shower).
Got stuff? Here are the lockers..
Nice looking set of barbells you got there. :P
OK, you got me.. I've never seen this machine before. Anyone know? tell me in the comments.
Here it is.. the single greatest machine for legs. (says me) I think i'll have to make another post just about this one piece of equiptment. It's that good.
What? You really want to hit the upper chest and get some shoulder and arm work in at the same time? Well, have I got a machine for you.
Some more row, row, row..
I don't mind getting on the floor.. it's getting up from the floor that is kinda tough. Plus, you can put a little incline on your crunches with this..
Another nice Power Cage.
My favorite machine for biceps. Feel that pump!
Here's one piece of equipment that you'll probably only find in a commercial gym.. the cable crossover.
To finish off the tour, here's a little beauty that does 1 job, but does it oh-so-well and really beats any other way to exercise this one muscle. I was really missing one of there as I was trying to workout only at my condo gym. It's the seated hamstring curl.
That's it for now. Thanks for coming along with me. :)
Till next post,
Ben
