Friday Fishing Stories: Bass Fishing in Florida

in #fishing6 years ago

Catching a 10 pound plus largemouth bass is one of my life’s goals. I have not been able to accomplish it yet.

A few years back, I piggybacked a vacation onto the end of a business trip in Florida. I flew my wife out, and we stayed in the Orlando area for a little bit and did lots of tourist-ie things. One thing I really wanted to do was go on a guided bass fishing trip for some of those famous giant bass that Florida has, so my wife humored me and came along.

We hired a local guide who had a successful business in the area and often caught the giant bass I was after - I was ready to knock this off my bucket list!

When the day arrived, it was gloomy and cold, which had not been the case in the previous days we had been there. We started early and met the guide at the lake, with the first line in the water by 8am. We fished with live shad, which was the first time I had done this, as I primarily use artificial lures for largemouth bass. With the cold front coming in, the fish were lethargic and we metered many fish on the fish finder but were unable to get too many bites.

We ended up catching 3 bass, and the biggest was only about 2.5 pounds. This was a pretty sad day for a guided fishing trip, but I suppose even when you hire a professional, it is still “fishing” and not necessarily “catching”. We did have a good time, but had to call it a day after about 5 hours, as there was no bathroom on the lake and my wife had to go! Here are a few pictures:

Even though it wasn’t successful and no giant bass were caught, it was still fun to be fishing a new area. I still hope to catch that 10 pound bass that has eluded me, and know many California lakes have big bass in them… I probably need to fish more and harder, but I still have a god shot at my 10 pound bass.

Do you have a fishing goal you hope to reach?

Although it was a cold day, that was a fun and memorable trip for sure! Wish I could have made it longer but that bun in the oven made me have to “go” sooner! Remember, I was prego here 😁

I really like your fishing trips, you're a fishing professional by following you, I'm helping you and your wife catch bass fish and garos, I wish you good luck in the coming days ، good luck my dear friend @brian.rrr 👍👍😃
All the best for you 😃😉

Hello friend @brian.rrr, like every Friday I was waiting for your fishing history on Friday, I was going to sleep but I said "I'll wait for my friend Brian's fishing post." It was undoubtedly a good day for you to fish and I liked to see that your wife is with you, that means that the family has the catch in their blood, since your wife, Jacop and ati like it and I am sure that when her little daughter Kendra grows more, she will also like to fish. Happy the two of you in those pictures with your big captured fish, I really congratulate you that day was a great day for you, I hope you catch that 10 lbs bass that has dodged you, Thanks for another fishing friday, I'm still learning with you Blessings for you and your family.

Well, as nice as it would have been to catch the big one, there rarely is a bad day on the lake. Good weather and good company make for a great time. I’ve caught some pretty big bass, but no 10lb’ers yet. My goal it to catch some big Muskie. They Avg between 10-20 lbs and can get much bigger. The best part I how aggressive they are. Would be so much fun to bring in. CBD18779-F59B-45E9-8868-07C9CF50D10C.jpeg
This was about a 6-7 lb bass from last summer.

Bass fishing it tough! All these fisherman have their spots, But I imagine they are hit or miss. Like the old proverb, “a bad day of fishing sure as hell beats a good day of work”

10 pounds would be a big one! I don't think I've caught more than a 2 pounder.

That's too bad your guided trip wasn't quite what you were hoping for. The guides can get you on top of the fish, but they can't actually make them bite.

That last fish doesn't look like a bass. I can't remember what they're called though. Do you happen to remember?

I'd like to get out on the lake again this year. Last year I didn't have any time for fishing, and I missed it. It's a small goal, but that's it to start. Get on the lake.

I am very happy to catch a lot of fish. You can see very good fish.

most important thing is you had fun maybe some other time you might be lucky to catch a 10 pounds fish. I have never gone fishing tho, looking foward to doing so someday

Wow
