In 1903, the Wright Brothers of the U.S.A invented the aeroplane. It flew a distance of 37 metres in 12 seconds. It was named Flyer 1.

Today, we have very advanced machines.They normally fly at a height of 10,000 kilometres. Their speed is around 1000 kilometres per hour. They are able to carry about 300 to 400 passengers at a time.
