#the100dayproject day 3: watercolor galaxy attempt.

For day 3 of my 100 days I decided to try my hand at a tree against a galaxy background. First I drew the tree and covered it with masking fluid. Then I painted over the whole thing with blues, greens, and purples. After that I splattered black and white gouache over the top to give the appearance of stars. Then I removed the masking fluid to reveal the white tree and moon.

Let me know what you think! It’s a bit tricky to get the masking fluid to go on in as fine of lines as I would have liked for the branches. Hopefully I can get it a bit better next time.

Want to join me in the 100 day project to master a form of art? All you have to do is do one small price of art every day for 100 days and track your progress. Let me know you’re going to join and I’ll follow you! More details here.

How do you remove the masking fluid?

It has kind of a rubbery texture and you can just roll or peel it off with your fingers. I'll try to make a video of that part the next time I work with it :) Its fun stuff!
