"as far as my personal enjoyment goes, I was kind of bored"
I was, a little, too, as the whole thing was over-hyped. We were told the Chazelle had completely reinvented the musical, whereas, in fact, he didn't, he just made a musical.
And when it comes to realistic touching musicals, "Fun Home" (not yet a movie) is so much more moving than this, and "The Greatest Showman" Hugh Jackman musical is so much more entertaining than this, that I feel this is neither fish nor fowl.
Despite that, I agree that "La la Land" has many moving and entertaining passages within it, and Gosling and Stone can't be faulted, despite the ridiculous hype that set me up for a fall lol.
