Burden (2020) – Movie Trailer
The movie Burden isn’t hit the theaters yet but already has some interesting history. Firstly, it is a directorial debut for Andrew Heckler. Secondly, the movie is based on a true story that happened a bit more than 2 decades ago in South Carolina and it’s interesting that Andrew Heckler, in that time, had gone to meet the real Reverent Kennedy, after reading a newspaper article about KKK Museum. And thirdly, the movie has won the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival in 2018, after receiving a 5-minute standing ovation.
As I previously said, the movie is based on true events happened in 1996 when has been opened KKK Museum in a small town in South Carolina. Reverend Kennedy has out all his efforts to prevent deeper racial tensions in the small town, but not everyone has a heart as he has. After sheltering Mike Burden, a former Klansman, in his own house, Kennedy helps him to leave his violent past behind, but others in town don’t believe in that...
The director and the writer of the movie is Andrew Heckler, an actor known for movies like Armageddon (1998) and Timecode (2000). This is his first movie in the director's chair and also the first one that is written by him.
In the main roles are Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy (2010), Mudbound (2017), On the Road (2012)), Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland (2006), Lee Daniels' The Butler (2013), Black Panther (2018)), Andrea Riseborough (Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014), Oblivion (2013), Mandy (2018)), Usher Raymond (The Faculty (1998), Killers (2010), Fast & Furious 6 (2013)), Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton (2007), In the Bedroom (2001), The Full Monty (1997)), and others.
