The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension (1984)
Peter Weller stars as the brilliant physicist, neurosurgeon, rock band front man Buckaroo Banzai. With the help from his team the Hong Kong Cavaliers they must stop a feud between two warring factions of aliens.
The plot unfortunately is what lets the movie down, but that's only because the comeradarie between the leads is so offbeat and compelling that you forget what is going on. The assured lived in bizarreness of this world makes it a real shame we never got sequels or a TV series.

Earth Girls are Easy (1988)
Three colourful fuzzy aliens crash land in valley girl Geena Davis' swimming pool and must learn how to become Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey and Jeff Goldblum.
The only reason I can think I had never watched this is because of that title and how awkward I would feel telling anyone what I was watching!?
It is in fact a pretty solid eighties comedy that at times feels like it's jumped out of your MTV.
The aliens learning to be human is pretty great as is Michael McKean as surfer dude, pool boy Woody.

Fathers and Sons (1992)
A father and son struggling to connect. A serial killer on the prowl, and telepathy are all drawn out of a hat and given to our man Jeff to see what he can do with it!
It makes for a strange but compelling movie overall with tone and subject matter at odds with each other. A curious beast of a film and sometimes curious can be enough.

TV biopic about radio and television Innovator Ernie Kovacs. Wacky, wild and making waves on fifties television. Who better than Jeff Goldblum then to bring the charisma?!
