Tomb Raider returns on the big screen but this time without Angelina Jolie
Lara Croft will return twice as much with two great adventures in 2018. On the one hand the cinematographic reboot of 'Tomb Raider' starring the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. On the other with a new game that Square Enix has confirmed officially.
The saga of video games Tomb Raider lived a real reboot when in 2013 Square Enix published a delivery that presented us a completely new Lara Croft, who was just beginning his adventures. Now it's the turn of Tomb Raider on the big screen, and the new movie will premiere on March 16, 2018.
Production
The film is under production by Warner Bros. and MGM and will be directly inspired by the new saga of games developed by Crystal Dynamics for Square Enix, which last year saw the arrival of the new Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Roar Uthaug will be in charge of this reboot of 'Tomb Raider' with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. The script is by Evan Daugherty and Geneva Robertson-Dworet ('Gotham City Sirens'). The cast is completed by names such as Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Alexandre Willaume, Leo Ashizawa and Adrian Collins.
That means that (fortunately) it will not have anything to do with the movies that Angelina Jolie starred in or those stories, this time we will see on the big screen the birth of a new, inexperienced and inexperienced Lara who should do whatever it takes to survive while encountering archaeological mysteries. This could be the start of a new and exciting series of films.
