Capsule Film Review: Into the Storm (2014)
2014 disaster film Into the Storm is often described as "spiritual succesor" to Twister, 1996 Hollywood blockbuster which successfully employed CGI techology in order to reconstruct mayhem tornadoes create in American Midwest. Film by Steven Quayle takes same subject, but rather different approach, using found footage technique to show destruction of small town from perspective of three different sets of characters – semi-professional storm chasers, local Youtube wannabe stars and, least convincingly, group of high school students which take cameras with them as part of time capsule project. Short in lenghth and not displaying much of its budget, Into the Storm delivers its content reasonably well, although at times some of the events, including horror-style prologue, look more like annoying cliché.
