The Katipunan as National Government

This article will emphasize that from the start KKK its structure is a provision of a national government. An argument were also set of that the Katipunan is different entity to La Liga Filipina and this could be a continuation at the end.

According to history books, last July 6-7 Bonifacio, Deodato Arellano, Ladislao Diwa, Valentin Diaza, Jose Dizon, and Teodoro Plata established a secret movement which they called as "Kataastaasan Kagalanggalang na Katipuna (KKK) of the sons of the nation" However, 6 months before the realization of the said establshing, Bonifacio and its members already structured an organization with the purpose of acquire freedom through revolt. Last January 1892, they built the KKK and proclaim there separation from Spain also and claim the KKK as the sovereignty that will take over the whole island (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg. 1.37.25-26).

It cannot be deny that from start, the foundation of Katipunan is to be referred as the national government. Theirs no doubt that this is a national government because it stand on its own feet and claim to holds the power from the whole island (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg. 1.37.26). Aside from this, the structure and its development is the clear proof of bureaucracy for the said government. Here it will assign the Honorable President that will manage the Katipunan together with its 12 high profile members (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg. 1.37.26-27).

This is a government intended only for the "sons of the nation" because the power is in the hands of the nation (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg. 1.37.25-26). It is wrong to say that the Katipunan is just a direct continuation of the La Liga Filipina of Rizal. The La Liga founded last July 3, 1892 wherein the primary purpose is to unite and strengthen the commerce and industry. It also aims to have reform, education for the Filipino, and protection from violence and injustices. This is clear in the declaration of Rizal in his defense when he was litigated (Rizal 1896, 339, 342).

Aside from this, the life of La Liga never extended that far because it suddenly died after Jose Rizal was exiled to Dapitan. According to Rizal, La Liga died after I was exiled to Dapitan, it was revive because after the first conference, it was not mention again. Base on this, it can be seen that there is no connection of KKK in becoming a direct continuation of La Liga. First, the goal and direction of the two organization is different. Two, the short life of La Liga created a doubt to the greater effect to the Katipunan.

Whatever it is, their's a strong proof that will justify that the Katipunan is not a continuation of La Liga. 6 months before the foundation of La Liga, Katipunan were already structured and established b the "sons of the nation." January of 1892, Katipunan already declared its separation from Spain. Together with this, it claim all the power and government to the whole island (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg.1.37.25-26). Bonifacio and all members of KKK swear to free the nation from the occupation of the Spaniards and it will protect from the colonization whatever it takes.

Si Bonifacio at ang lahat ng Katipunero ay sumumpang palalayain ang bayan mula sa pananakop ng mga Kastila at ipagsasanggalang ito sa kolonisasyon anuman ang mangyari (AGMM 1892-1897, Caja 5677, leg.1.37.22-24). Therefore, it is impossible that KKK is a direct continuation of La Liga because it was already structured and established by the "sons of the nation" six months before Rizal establish his Liga.
