EMP Survival Chronicles #15 (An Original Story)

Pastor preached a message about Saul of Tarsus. How he persecuted and murdered Christians. He told how Saul was confronted by Jesus on the road to Damascus one day and was transformed and later became the apostle Paul. He explained that this sinner, this Christian killer went on to become arguably the greatest apostle and one of the greatest Disciples of Christ.

The message spoke to Rogers heart. He realized that no sin was too great for Christ to forgive. He was moved profoundly by the message. Jillian felt the Holy Spirit working. She thought to herself how appropriate that God would place that message on Pastors heart the very day that Roger had walked through the door to hear it. At the end of the service Pastor gave an invitation to come to the alter. Many people came forward. Roger felt led to come but was nervous and apprehensive. He remained in his seat.

When the service ended and everyone filed out of the auditorium to go downstairs, Roger stayed in the auditorium. Jillian , again went over and sat next to him. Karl Fairly stood in the rear watching them. Roger explained to Jillian that he felt led to go up but couldn’t. He looked her square in the eye and told her, “I have done some terrible things in my life Jill”. Then he asked , “was that story about the apostle Paul true”? She assured him that every word of scripture was true.

Pastor saw them sitting and talking and went to stand next to her. Jillian introduced them and told Pastor that Roger was the man that saved the lives of her and the children Yesterday. Roger went to shake Pastors hand when Pastor opened wide his arms and threw them around Roger embracing him. With tears in his eyes he thanked him from the bottom of his heart. Roger had a tear in his eye as well as he asked Pastor “What must I do to be saved like Saul”? Pastor looked at him and smiled and replied “simply believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Repent of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your personal savior. His grace and mercy will be all you will need to obtain salvation”.

Then together they prayed as Pastor led him in the sinner's prayer. Afterwards Pastor explained to Roger that angels in heaven were at this moment rejoicing for the salvation of his soul. He embraced Roger again and said “Praise God for you Brother”. Together they went down stairs and ate lunch and fellowshipped with the congregation. Pastor introduced him to many people in the crowd.

Seated with his family, Karl Fairly watched Rogers every move. He knew this man was involved with the murders. He also knew that he had saved Jillian's life and the lives of her two youngest children. He had also just watched this man get saved. He felt the conflict well up in his heart. He knew that it was his duty to arrest him and take him in for what he had done. He would have to wait until Roger was off by himself so that no bystanders were put in harm's way during his apprehension.
