FlashFiction: Broken Pot

Anger can influence anyone to carry out the most unthinkable act, if it's not well managed.

Jeremy gazed at his newly wedded wife passionately and said to her, "honey, do you see that covered native pot on top of our wardrobe?" she looked at the direction he pointed and responded, "yes my love". He continued. "You see, that pot was given to me by my dad and he said that the day that anyone opens it will be my last day on earth". So please, promise me that you'll never touch it. "I won't honey, I'll never go close to it." She responded assuredly.

3+ years later and they were having serious problems in their relationship. She's suspecting that Jeremy is cheatingon her because his attention on her had reduced. Though it was mainly due to stress at Jeremy's work place but she's suspecting that he's seeing someone else. One after she got a call ftom an anonymous number that "Jeremy was seen with another lady in an eatery". Without without verifying the information or wait for Jeremy to return so that she can confront him with the information she got, she ended the call and rushed into her bedroom to get the small pot her husband begged her not to open. With anger in her eyes and revenge written over her, she pointed to the pot and said "Hmm Jeremy! You think you can toil with my heart and get away with it en? It's a lie! Your end has come today!" She lifted up the pot and smashed it on the floor.

The little black pot broke into tiny pieces and a white smoke was seen ascending into the air the moment the pieces of the broken pot scattered on the ground. Jeremy's wife immediately got hold of herself the moment she observed the white smoke ascending from the pot. With a trembling voice she shouted, "my husband O! No you can't die! Please come back!" She kept shouting that repeatedly. She quickly dashed to the sitting room where she left her phone and started dialing her husband's number but the line wasn't going through. "Oh, I've killed my husband!" she exclaimed. She threw herself on the floor and started crying bitterly.

She kept rolling on the floor and crying bitterly when suddenly she felt the hand of someone trying to lift her from the ground. She thought it was her neighbour's wife so she kept crying aloud, "i've killed my husband o, Neighbour!" she kept saying it repeatedly but there was no response from the consoler. She turned around to see who her consoler is and to her greatest surprise, her eyes met the smiling face of her husband. "Oh my God! Jeremy you're alive! You're alive!" She said as she threw herself on her husband, holding him very tightly like she's never going to see him again.

She broke the hug, gazed at her husband directly in the eyes and was about to apologize for breaking the pot when Jeremy said to her passionately, "honey, no need for that. I understand!" Though she failed her husband's test, their relationship got stronger than what it was before.

Jeremy's wife was lucky to have been given another chance, but you may not have such second chance. So always learn to control your anger and verify every information you hear before reacting.
