Goslings Grow Fast

in #featheredfriday5 years ago

I can't believe how fast goslings grow. They went from looking like this...

to looking like this, seven weeks later!

These are Canadian Geese and according to humanima.com, "by the time they are 2 months old, the young Canadian Geese are 25 times larger than they were at birth."

Feathers!

Goslings begin to fly when they are 3 months old.

The young usually stay with their parents for the entire first year of their lives.

Have a great weekend!

Time sure does go by fast. Thanks for stopping by! : )

They are beginning to gather on the river and they are quite vocal all night! I wonder if they ever sleep. Some will stay all winter, but others must be beginning to think about moving further south.
Great photos!

I would love to hear them at night. Good sleeping music. LOL! If they are smart they will all move south, including me. : )

I do love it! Especially now when I can still sleep with the windows open.

Growing up, we raised Toulouse and Chinese geese.

I had to look them up to see what they looked like and they are pretty. That must have been a fun experience. Why did you raise them? To sell the chicks? Eggs?

We ate the eggs and the geese. Two years, I won Grand Champion for my goose at the Washington County Fair! It was never, like, a flock large enough that we made a living on them, but I think we sold enough for a few hundred dollars each year, and had several to eat ourselves. My dad made the tastiest Thai Roast Goose for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Where these at, your backyard?

You are just full of yourself tonight, aren't you jonboy?!?! You know they were at the park. LOL!

maybe...lol.
