Today I will tell you about my favourite decade! Unfortunately I wasn't born then but I wish I were. I'm referring to the 60's! The reason? I love the aesthetic of this period. In my opinion the fashion back then was at its best.

The 60's were "divided" in three periods fashionwise. The early 60's were marked by box dresses and 50's fashion. In mid-60's everything started to look more sleek and modern and the lines became sharper and more form-fitting. The late 60's were a lot different. They were the era of the flared-bottomed pants and clothes started to form to the way they were in 70's (which I don't find flattering at all).

The fashion idol in the first years was Jackie Kennedy, with her super chic style. White pearls and tailored suit dresses formed the most feminine looks that will remain in fashion's subconscious forever. Her style was clean, well fitted and emphasised on perfectly matched accessories. The enormous dark glasses, the pillbox hats and the timeless pieces she had a love for, made her outfits impecable!

The impact of pop art that flourished in the 60's was obvious also in the world of fashion. Stripes and polka dots, colourblock, and Campbells soup cans were all placed on short shift dresses.

Andy Warhol was a successful magazine and ad illustrator and a leading figure in pop art. Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962). He is one of my favourite artists as I love the bold colours he used and his unique style.

If only the elegance and the incredible style of the 60's could be revived!
