but - yes... i wanted to make this character very complex. and.... i think it's working so far :)

Well it's a damn good character, love him or hate him. My favorite in the story. I mean, what if Bryd and Talia are really the evil ones? Or maybe that's just the way this 'creature' is. His nature. Can't hate him for that. It's like hating a caterpillar that eats your roses so it can turn into a butterfly.
That's exactly right. You can't usually tell at first glance what is what. And we are dealing with other dimensions here! Who is to say exactly what he's feeling? We can only view him through our human eyes and make judgments from our limited perspective. but when you can suspend your imagination enough to immerse yourself completely into the story..... that's when the fun begins! hehehehe

Just caught up from chapter 16. I don't trust Derek even slightly.
Looking forward to seeing how the story progresses! Chapter 17 has been my favourite so far.

The twist in events and the mystery/suspense you create. It struck me particularly in that chapter, when I wanted to know who the captor was and imagined the scene of the boy being tortured mentally instead of physically.
Short but intense, which is my favourite style of writing.

Evil little man makes my skin crawl, I do not like him one bit, not a single bit. Buuuuu... If someone is in his nature evil @enginewitty, you give that person a tranquilizer and lock him up lol. Love how the story is progressing @dreemsteem, but a bit annoyed with this character :D
But who defines what evil is? Is it not just a point of view?
Yeah sure. Your point of you may be to use me or hurt me and my point of you may be that you are evil and I should defend myself from you :D There is no good or bad if go to a philosophical level, it is all a matter of perception but on a larger scale, we are all very subjective. :) If someone hurts your kids, I am sure you would not debate with that person or think about their point of view and try to justify their actions. You would show them your teeth and that is normal, subjective. Being objective is an illusion. We are humans, not robots.

I can't say why I chose the name Derek yet...it's too early and I can't let anyone peek inside my mind or else they will start guessing things about the story hehehehe
