Facebook Admits Israeli Social Manipulation Company Spent $800,000 To Influence African Elections
Facebook is keeping up its reputation for protecting privacy and stamping out manipulation on its platform.
The company banned a host of accounts that were used to influence elections in Africa. The accounts were used to concern identities. They targeted those accounts with more than 3 million users.
Unlike the situation with President Trump, the Russians were not behind this one. It was Israel and a total of $800,000 was spent on the campaign.
In contrast, $100,000 was spent by the Russians on bots to influence the U.S. Presidential election.
