Monday Hash 20-Jan : A rare exception to the rules

Monday hashes have always been the men's only hash. It is simply a tradition that was passed down since the very first Hash House Harriers was formed a hundred million years ago in Kuala Lumpur. However, there are emergency "decrees" that can be passed down in times of great turmoil such as not having enough participants.

That was exactly the situation that we faced on this monday. Most of the men were out of town on the Bali international meetup and also traveling East to attempt to help out what we hope will become our sister hash in Hoi An and therefore we made a call and decided to temporarily lift the ban on the ladies attendance on Monday.

That doesn't mean that we are going to make it easier though - not that we ever would make it easier just because there were women involved.

"Shrek" laid the trail at an area some of us refer to as the "dust bowl" and with very good reason. it can be extremely irritating out here if the wind blows or even if cars go by because there is very little gravel and everything, despite being up in the hills, is covered with very fine sandy dirt.

It kind of boggles the mind that anything grows in the crap but it does. Perhaps this area gets hit particularly hard during rainy season. It must, because there wasn't a drop of water here that we didn't bring with us.

One thing you can count on with "Shrek" is that he tends to build in a beer stop to his runs and today was no exception. For those of you that haven't joined us yet, a "beer stop" is exactly what it sounds like. A place during the run that you can stop running / walking and enjoy a beer, just like they do in the pros.

Above you can see the difference in how serious the men and / or women take these runs because "Graven Image", "Pussy Whisperer," and"Pigshit" all digging into the beers and sitting down and relaxing while "Tough my Buns" (the only woman in this picture" didn't even slow down for the photo.

Back at the camp we immediately tucked into some brews. Here you can see how "Shagless" takes his shirt off and doesn't even try to hide the fact that he is staring at one of the new girls. Gotcha buddy! We'll be poking fun at you for this for a while. I know women aren't normally allowed on Mondays, but you have seen women at other times during the week, haven't you? Wait till someone teaches him what the internet is and how you can look at all manner of ladies on there.

The trail was about 7km and no one got hurt, there were some issues with people turning up late at the pickup point and calling us to tell us they would "be there in 5 minutes." As I have warned multiple times, we WILL NOT wait for anyone, for any reason. I wont name names but your probably noticed when you arrived that the buses had already left. Be there at 3:15 or get left behind... period
