You have swam the river of time,
yet the harvest leaves you desiring.
Hurry, you're almost past your prime.
The song is messy and without rhymes,
still, you cannot stop singing.
You have swam the river of time.
You wanted gold but got a dirty dime.
When will you see the vault teeming?
Hurry, you're almost past your prime.
Your wounds is splattered with lime,
you wanted to cry but you must remain smiling.
You have swam the river of time.
Chasing a dream seems like a crime
yet you must chase even if you're failing.
Hurry, you're almost past your prime.
There's a towering peak that must be climb.
And no matter what you must avoid falling.
You're still swimming the river of time,
you must hurry, you're almost past the prime
What is a Villanelle?
A villanelle (also known as villanesque) is a nineteen-line poetic form consisting of five tercets followed by a quatrain. There are two refrains and two repeating rhymes, with the first and third line of the first tercet repeated alternately until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines. The villanelle is an example of a fixed verse form. The word derives from Latin, then Italian, and is related to the initial subject of the form being the pastoral.
