So you’re in sales

Congratulations on picking sales as your career! You have now embarked on a profession that can lead you to the top of your organization the fastest way possible if it is done correctly. It is doing it correctly that causes a lot of people problems and keeps them from becoming the top performers they would like to be.

Although in order for these posts to be effective in helping you become a better sales person we all need to be on the same page in terms of what we consider selling. So lets start right off and define sales.

My definition of sales is:

Building a relationship with someone to first help them solve a problem they are facing and second discover their buying motives.

I defined sales this way for a few reasons

  • As the old saying goes give a man a fish he can eat for a day, teach a man to fish he can eat for a lifetime. In order to have long term success in selling you must build relationships with your prospects and clients. You do that by first solving a problem they are facing which in turn lets them know you as a resource instead of just another sales person.

I placed buying motives in the definition because if you don’t know why your customers buy something in the first place how are you ever going to sell them something?

What I plan to do from here on out:

I will give you hands on examples and advice to help you increase your sales along with your commission check. I will help you achieve that by doing the following:

  • Laying out a system of steps you can take in order to make a sale. Everything from research to making that final proposal to the CEO.

  • If you have been in sales for awhile and already have your system in place, but are looking for some tips on how to improve your closing rate I have you covered there as well. My articles will have easy to use tips on how to continue building relationships and unique ways to discover your customer’s buying motives.

One last piece of advice:

Sales might be a complex world filled with questioning strategies, creating ways to get past the gatekeeper and weathering rejection, but as long as you focus on being a resource to your client you have a much better chance of making the sale. The reason is because your client will see you as more than just another sales person, they will see you as a friend and people are much more likely to buy from their friends.

Good strategy of selling or marketing ,this is very very informative for people who are in business ,but let me tell you we all are involved in business ,in one way or the other.
