Breath of Fresh Air: Validation of Active Air Samplers

Environmental monitoring is a programme which evaluates the cleanliness of the manufacturing environment; the effectiveness of cleaning and disinfection programmes; and the operational performance of environmental controls. As such, pharmaceutical manufacturers of both sterile and non-sterile products, as well as medical devices, are required to demonstrate that manufacturing processes and procedures minimise any potential contamination to the product from the manufacturing environment. Contamination can arise from a number of sources: water, air, surfaces and personnel, each of which poses...

New trends in improving gasoline quality and octane through naphtha isomerization: a short review.pdf
Is available in the websites.
The octane enhancement of light straight run naphtha is one of the significant solid acid catalyzed processes in the modern oil refineries due to limitations of benzene, aromatics, and olefin content in gasoline. This paper aims to examine the role of various catalysts that are being utilized for the isomerization of light naphtha with an ambition to give an insight into the reaction mechanism at the active catalyst sites, and the effect of various contaminants on catalyst activity. In addition, different technologies used for isomerization process are evaluated and compared by different...

Global trends in environmental management system and ISO14001 research

The International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) standard provides a guideline for an organisation to perform a continuous improvement to their environmental performance. In light of continued concerns over global environmental impacts and climate change, the ISO 14001 standard serves to demonstrate organisational commitment to sustainable production processes. The objective of our paper is to determine the thematic and geographical trends of published EMS research with a view of developing a coordinated and holistic research framework...

An Aiding Tool for Building Design Generation, Thermal Assessment and Optimization – EnergyPlus Interaction Overview

A building design aiding tool for space allocation and thermal performance optimization is being developed to help practitioners during the building space planning phase, predicting how it will behave regarding energy consumption and thermal comfort. The tool evaluates, ranks, and optimizes generated floor plans according to thermal performance criteria, using the dynamic simulation program EnergyPlus. The tool is currently able to use a wide variety of EnergyPlus objects, allowing for various template and detailed HVAC, DHW, and thermal and electrical energy production systems and...

What is the best, fastest, cheapest and greenest rehabilitation method that must be implemented in the Mponeng mine closure?

Even though it generates a lot of money to the country’s economy mining has disastrous impacts on the overall environmental health, Mining leads to serious degradation and aesthetic value decline of land by its nature, there is no way of mining without destroying the land but the is a way to restore the land, The problem with most South African mining projects is that they do no adhere to the National Environmental management act (act 107 of 1998) post mining project or when they close off the mine, this leaves the area prone to erosion, flooding, deforestation, animal and plant habitat...

Estimation of renewable energy and built environment-related variables using neural networks – A review

This paper presents a review on the application of neural networks for the estimation, forecasting, monitoring, and classification of exogenous environmental variables that affect the performance, salubrity, and security of cities, buildings, and infrastructures. The forecast of these variables allows to explore renewable energy and water resources, to prevent potentially hazardous construction locations, and to find the healthiest places, thus promoting a more sustainable future. Five research themes are covered---solar, atmospheric, hydrologic, geologic, and climate change.
