Germination is a growing embryo event
in seeds into new plants. Seed will germinate if
are in the appropriate environment. Germination process
this requires a suitable temperature, the amount of water is adequate,
adequate oxygen supply, moisture, and light.
Different seed structure between monocot and monocot plant
dicotil will produce different germination structures
also. In monocots, the sprout structure includes
radicles, primary roots, plumules, coleoptiles, and first leaves.
Meanwhile, in sprouted dicoty plant consists of roots
primer, hypocotyl, cotyledon, epicotyl, and first leaf.
Based on the location of cotyledons, germination can
divided into two, namely epigeal and hypogeal.
a. In epigeal germination, cotyledons are present at
soil surface driven by growth
hypocotyl extender to the top.
b. In hypogeal germination, the cotyledon remains on
underground, while the plumula comes out of the surface
the soil is due to the elongated epicotic growth
upward.
