Arts & Craft Ulog: 30 Minutes DIY Christmas Cushion/Pillow Cover (Recycle & Re-use Ideas)

Christmas is in the air. Christmas songs everywhere and Christmas decors are up. So yesterday, I made a fab decorative Christmas cushion covers out from an old red winter coat for the 2 flat old christmas cushions.
A friend gave me this coat 3 years ago but I was only able to use it once because of the rough material that is making me feeel itchy. I’ve resized it already but still, it doesn’t looks flattering on me. So I finally giving it a new life.
I used my glue gun and pick an artificial flower from the flower vase and use the remaining Christmas ribbon from last year. I only invest €1.50 for the glue sticks and 30 minutes for the cutting and assembling. I got this idea from a flower throw away pillow that I saw in ZARA Home Store last Christmas season. I love the style of that one but not the color and the price is just too much. So I thought, ”why buy it if I can make it myself”.
So if you have un-used clothing materials with contrasting christmas colors, you can make a christmas bell, santa hat or socks out of it and below is a process of a decorative cushion or pillow cover.
MATERIALS
- Old coat
- Old Christmas cushions
- Scissor
- Glue gun and stick glue
- Gift ribbon
- Artificial flower
Step 1: I place the old cushions on top of the old coat to measure where exact to cut. (Giving 2 inches each side more space allowance before the cutting.)
Step 2: Then I turned it inside out and just like sewing a pillow case, I hot glued it on both sides, leaving the center part open where I’m going to place the old cushions after.
Step 3: I decorated it with the ribbons and artificial flower as the final touch.
And there it is along with the green ones.
Husband thought that I just spend €100 for new decors this year while he was away. 😅
It cost me nothing darling! 🤪❤️

What can I say? The only thing that I know about sewing was that my mom used to call me to put the cotton through the eye of a needle, as she couldn't see it very well. A lovely set of gifts that you made here Lady Joy! Blessings!
