Nigeria was colonized by the British and got her freedom in the year 1960. It was a joyous day as we became totally free from the ruling hands of the British. Before that time, in 1958, our nigeria flag was design by Mr. Taiwo akinkunmi .. The Nigeria flag has two colour, green and white.

Later on our national anthem was changed ..

National anthem 1st Stanza

Arise o compatriot
Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith,
The labour of our heroes past
shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

2nd stanza

Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth and truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

Nigeria pledge

I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful loyal and honest
To serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity,
And uphold the honour and glory
So help me God.

Our first executive president was Dr. Nnamdi azikwe and from him the military regime took over, until years after when we Had our first civilian president Olusegun Obasanjo who ruled from 1999-2007
