The bridge was established as planned at the Lagrange L2 point of PGB-1, while the Milky Way entrance was set midway between Cassiopeia and Omega-1, the name given to the first bridge set on the outer arm, in the middle of Inu territory.

Once the new portal to Bernard's Galaxy was activated, the bridge of the main continent of Cassiopeia was destroyed, leaving the pass under the complete control and monitoring of the human army forces.

Half of Yone's fleet and a similar number of ships coming from Apollo, were transported to the new bridge, in whose orbit a provisional space station was fixed, from which to control access to the portal.

While this was happening, at PGB-1 ROBERT in the company of a squadron of ships that were sent to install the bridge in Bernard's Galaxy, they performed a scan of the nearby stellar systems in search of planets or artificial structures that could have life.

Less than a light year later, in a system formed by eight planets in orbit around an orange dwarf, they were able to detect a laser signal, which they decided to investigate. It came from the sixth planet in the system, a small rocky world, most of whose surface was covered with water.

-My sensors do not detect any source of radio or laser waves, apart from the one we have been following, maybe it is the lighthouse of some ship or probe sunk in the ocean, -said ROBERT, after doing several orbits to the planet.

-In that case we should locate the source, -said Captain Olga Smith, leader of the squadron-. ROBERT, fly over the area of origin and do a scan with the Doppler.

ROBERT entered the atmosphere of the planet, like PGB-1, the planet seemed to have the right conditions to support life, however, lacked any form of microscopic life detectable, at least at the atmospheric level, so you could also deduce the lack of macroscopic life.

When reaching the area of origin of the signal, the Doppler showed the presence of several large structures, which seemed to be interconnected.

-Captain Smith, as you can see there are many large structures submerged, it seems consistent with a city, I will submerge to observe more closely, -said ROBERT.

ROBERT immersed himself in the dark waters of the ocean, at a little more than twenty meters of depth he began to find strange structures of unknown aspect, they seemed to be constructed in metal and some type of transparent polymer, The buildings did not seem to be designed to be watertight, on the contrary, its structure seemed to favor the circulation of the water through its interior, reason why the form of life that constructed them must have been aquatic.

ROBERT began to tour the city, while from a fixed orbit, the pilots of the squadron observed the images he sent.

-Captain, can you see what I see? -asked ROBERT, highlighting the obvious.

-Of course ROBERT, - answered Olga, without taking her eyes off the projection.

Many of the city's structures seemed to have been impacted by some kind of weapon that had almost completely destroyed them, countless craters of varying sizes were seen in various parts of the city and the surrounding terrain.

-Whoever this city was, it was heavily bombarded with some kind of mechanical impact weapon. I will continue to look for the source of the laser signal, - said Robert, as he continued to explore.

After ten minutes, ROBERT found the source of the signal, it was a transmitter located on top of a building shaped like a tower, which seemed not to have received the impact of a projectile.

-This is the source Captain , according to the scanner, it is only a transmitter, without any source of data, connected to it, I think it is some kind of distress signal, has a battery of uranium 234 - explained ROBERT -. By the level of disintegration has not less than fifteen thousand years active. I also detect traces of gamma contamination in the materials of the structure, apparently what happened here involved gamma ray bombardment, apparently the planet was literally sterilized.
