Centralization

User Eva explains why a lot of things in law traditions point back to Roman ages. Over time small groups evolved into bigger groups instead of looking out for their own, they start to think about what is in general better for the community. Yes, there was centralization. But it was also equalization and standardization. User Samupaha replies by saying that he looks at EOS as a method of standardizing the minimum rules which are needed for cooperation between different groups and individuals. He explains that there is a discussion between minarchists and anarchocapitalists. The first one thinks that the central state should have some minimum duties to take care of. The second are willing to go without any kind of central institution. User Eva says that anarchy never worked in the long term. There are a multitude of examples over the ages.

Dispute Resolution

User Sun Tzu replies to an article from user JP: ‘Have you modeled the idea of selecting an agency with your grandmother?’ User JP thinks wallets would likely screen agencies so they only display reputable ones. So grandmother would have a curated list likely from the wallet where she created her account. User Sun Tzu: ‘So (a) we rely on a reputation system which is a concept that has repeatedly failed in the past, and (b) grandma would have to ‘learn the brands’ which only works when there is some modicum of commonality in the brands, which generally means centralization. I fear such a system will be far more centralized than say simple ECAF as it is today.’

The discussion between Sun Tzu and JP goes on for a while. They first discuss the idea of JP, where JP tries to explain his idea of a reputation system by comparing it with someone (grandmother) buying a new phone. Marketing and recommendations from friends are usually what makes someone buy a certain phone. After this Sun Tzu tries to explain that the way insurances work with their dispute resolution doesn’t really work for EOS. After that user JP has a few questions about ECAF which Sun Tzu answers. User Eva also gives some answers concerning ECAF and gives her take on things.

User JP: ‘I guess we shouldn’t use crypto and just stick with the US dollar as reserve currency since that’s how it is.’ User Sun Tzu: ‘You question was this: ‘Any real-world examples of this happening or analogies to other industries?’ The USD is another example of exactly that. As is Bitcoin in the space known as blockchain - currently enjoying its first mover advantage and swatting down pretenders.’
