Watercolor sketch in the museum of railway transport. Steam locomotive E 2450

in #elegance6 years ago

Hello!)

In the previous post I wrote that I went to draw in the museum of railway transport.
We wandered long enough along the platforms, looking at locomotives, diesel locomotives, wagons that made their last stop at this station. Long chose what to draw, since time was limited, and around there were so many wonderful exhibits.
I chose one beautiful black locomotive E-2450.

The E (American) steam locomotives were delivered to the USSR from the USA in 1944-1947. They worked in the freight traffic on many roads, for example, at the Moscow-Kiev one in 1944-1949. Then they were increasingly used in Siberia and the Far East.
The steam locomotive E 2450 was built in 1944 at the Baldwin plant in Philadelphia. He worked at the Sverdlovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Far Eastern railways. The length of the locomotive is 22.2 meters. The maximum capacity is 2080 l / s, the coal reserve is 18 tons, the speed is 70 km / h.

I had a watercolor sketchbook and a mini-set of watercolors with which I decided to draw a sketch. I also discovered for myself the convenience of a brush with little tank, which was very convenient to use in street conditions. Now this is my creative marching mini-kit.

At first I quickly drew the contours with a pencil, circled it for accuracy with gray liner, filled the picture with color. In the end, I emphasized some lines with a thin black liner.

I think that it was a good choice. The painting comes out wonderfully. It reminds me of a book cover with the Hogwarts express. Even the style of painting matches the front of the the philosophers stone. Nicely done.

thank you very much)

Hi @kleonella, your train is very realistically drawn and painted and it looks beautiful. Majestically black. I love the olden days locomotives. They are a classic to behold. And your mini kit is cool. It is so convenient and fun to be able to just draw and paint anywhere you like. And you did it in less than half hour! Think I would have taken the whole day and still it wouldn't look anything close to what you have beautifully created. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

thank you very much)

@keonella, you are talented and your work was amazing. When i saw that you only used 12 colors in your drawing? wow it really a wow.. like a magic, and able to came out such an amazing work. The art is similar with the object, the only difference was one is real and another one is drawing. :)
It took you how long to finish this piece? You must be practice a lot and keep up the good work.

thanks, I did a little sketch with watercolor, not more than half an hour for each drawing, since the time of visiting the museum was limited

That brush with the tank would be very convenient! You did a great job capturing this shiny black beauty with your watercolors! Nicely done! Congrats on your @curie vote!

thank you very much)

Those steam locomotives have a really long history of how they ended up there. You made a great choice, and you painted it beautifully, You got all the details on point. It looks like a reflection of the real thing, more like a photo...

I would have loved to see the different locomotives there, did you take photos of them? I think your English isn't bad...

thank you, I took some photos while I was at the museum, I'll try to upload them and my sketches in the next post

That will be great! looking forward to seeing them
