I was reading the magazine Eating Well and they had a page article about milk. Let me share with you some of the information...

Question: Does Milk Really Work to help reduce the pain from eating spicy foods?
Answer: A study was done in which participants drank a swig of milk after drinking spice tomato juice to help ease the burn pain. Turns out that milk eased the burn pain better than any other beverage given the participants. Peppers get their heat from capsaicin, and you will feel the heat when these compounds bind to your taste receptors on your tongue. Milk's casein, a protein, lifts the capsaicin off of your tongue, bringing relief.

Question: Will Cheese From Milk Cause Constipation?
Answer: Eating more than 30 grams of saturated fat a day is linked with being "backed up." Cheese is high in saturated fat. 1 ounce of cheese typically has 5 grams of saturated fat. The problem isn't unique to cheese- ANY fatty food can have this effect.

Question: Does Organic Milk Have More Omega 3's than Non-Organic?
Answer: Yes, organic milk averages 62% more omega-3's than conventional. However, the levels of Omega 3 are not that high to begin with. Organic milk has around 80 mg vs conventional milk having 50 mg. The recommended daily amounts are 1,100 mg for women and 1,600 mg for men. You would have to drink a ton of milk to reach those levels. You are better off eating wild, fatty fish if you really want to up your Omega 3's.

Well there you have it. I hope you learned a new fact about cow's milk. See you again soon.
