THREE MOST IMPORTANT EDUCATION TO A GIRL-CHILD

Education is key for the girl child, there is no more excuse that can pass for ignorance anymore in the society we live in nowadays. I have seen what illiteracy and ignorance have done to the lives of our mothers, they wished they had the education we have now. That is why they go all out for their children to get the necessary education. Meanwhile, education is more than the walls of a school either primary, secondary or tertiary. How about the other forms of educations?

This article is focused on the girl child because I feel they are the ones that are less-privileged and most abused citizen of the country. It is known that education will go a long way to reduce the menaces the girl child go through such as domestic violence, rape, child abuse and many more. I present to you the form of education that is very important to a girl child in our society today.

1.) Formal Education: This is the most important education necessary for a girl child. This is necessary because it is learnt in the four walls of a school where learned people train the child according to the curriculum provided by the government. The children are taught how to read, write and sing then move on to mathematics, science and many other studies. The most important aspect is learning to read and write as it is the foundation of education.

As parents or guardians, we must try hard to send our girl children to school whether public or private. It is the most important gift we can give to them. There are many things we cannot teach them at home that can only be learnt in school. The assignments from school will keep them busy and distract them from menace or social vices around.

2.) Informal Education: This is the first education that can be presented to a girl child. This is the education they get from home. People do say grandparents give the best informal education and it is true in this part of the world. I can remember my grandmother telling us so many tales by the moonlight and explaining the morals behind each story. This is a true example of informal education, it is not learnt in school but mostly at home. Informal education should be introduced early enough to teach them morals. This is what we call home training.

Charity begins at home, this is why it is important to teach your girl at home. The child you train well, will bring good to the family’s name while the child you don’t train or train bad will bring shame and reproach to the family’s name. Whatsoever we sow in the girl’s life is what we reap when we grow older. May we reap the fruits of our labor on our girl child, before you say amen, train your child. Also, spare the rod and spoil the child. Moral education is under informal education, it can be passed down from older people to the girl children.

3.) Sex Education: This is another important form of education to a girl child but parents shy away. Please, talk to your daughters about sex. Let them know the advantages and disadvantages of sex. They should know sex can be bad or good, it depends on the timing. The right information will help them one day or the other. Those lustful brothers take advantage when they see they are ignorant about sex. Part of sex education is teaching them about safe sex, use of preventive measures, education about safe period, ovulation and menstruation cycle. It is important to teach them when we feel they are matured enough to understand the teachings.

A part of sex education is health education, it is important to teach the girl child how important good hygiene is. Health is truly wealth as they say and educating them will help them understand this point.

Finally, let us all come together to educate the girl child so as to protect their future. Education is the key to what they will become in the future. Education make them mentally prepared for whatsoever the future has at stake for them. Train up the girl child, it is our collective effort.
