Evaluation of emotions in the learning of Mathematics // Personal perception

The emotional state within the learning of mathematics has a very special way of influencing the knowledge that we can acquire in any topic within mathematics. Science has always tried to study all the stimulating elements so that when we are learning mathematics we can feel motivated and open the frontiers of understanding, and we can see those learning processes as fun, rather than a forced obligation, where instead of opening the understanding all the windows are closed to understand what we try to understand.

That is why the purpose of this article is to disclose some elements to be taken into account to motivate us in the most conscious way when learning this important branch of knowledge how is mathematics.

Necessary environment to generate a mathematical teaching where motivation prevails.

There are several psychological traits of a negative nature that prevent many of our students from learning mathematics, both at the middle and university levels, which is why it is vitally important to create the necessary environment so that the delivery of teaching by us as a teacher translate with empathic characteristics, where we take into account all the factors that prevent the student from advancing in their learning process.

That is why my proposal lies in how all teachers should think and act, especially at the university level, from my point of view this teacher prototype must have the following capabilities:

  • Sense of mathematical comprehension: For students to feel motivated it is very important that the teacher works as that model to follow regarding the knowledge he has on the topic to teach, that is to say if what we have to teach we do not dominate it with enough strength and academic knowledge, apart from confusing more, we will lower the morale and even the desire to continue attending the mathematics course.

  • Mathematical analysis ability: Mathematical analysis is fundamental especially in those cases that as teachers we want to analyze certain mathematical results based on real applications of Engineering, Experimental Science, Social traits among others, with this ability that can to get to own the teacher to analyze the mathematical results, the capacity of mathematical reasoning in the students is raised, thus creating the propitious environment to motivate them to understand all the mathematical subjects.

  • Raising mathematical problems with student collaboration: The teacher has to have another aspect to adjust in mathematical explanations, and is the fact of being able to raise mathematical problems outside the traditional context of books, where there is a participatory action in the elaboration of the approach of these problems, to pose problems with the collaboration of the student will expand his senses in search of an integral mathematical knowledge.

Importance of motivation for learning mathematics (reflection)

The motivation has to exist under a scenario in which it acts both for the student and for the teacher, since the best practices in the teaching process will be executed with an enthusiastic teacher, wanting to give their best for each class, for each mathematical exercise that is reinvented for its students. In the worst case if the teacher has no emotions found in their desire to inspire class to class for their students to learn, then they will not be motivated to learn.

The study and subsequent learning of mathematics involves effort, especially in the fact of being able to maintain a permanence in their senses of understanding, which will only be achieved if they manage to exploit those desires for improvement, motivated by emotions that inspire a true environment of teaching and learning.

We as avant-garde teachers, always adjusted to the changes of the new times, where an integral and formative education attached to the production of a knowledge that helps the nations of the world to overcome their crises, we must motivate our students to that they learn mathematics under a different approach, where all the contents are oriented to a real field application, adjusted to the needs of each professional training program.
