The developmental disorder of coordination may manifest itself together with other developmental disorders. It usually continues until adulthood.

How is dyspraxia diagnosed?

The best way to help diagnose is to start monitoring your child and correct these observations daily. To diagnose dyspraxia, your child's symptoms should be continuously monitored for at least six months.

Types of dyspraxia

Depending on the actions that cause the greatest difficulties, there are several types of violations:

  • Ideomotor dyspraxia. The difficulties cause any motorized act: walking, maintaining balance, jumping on one leg, outdoor games, any daily activity.
  • Ideatorial dyspraxia. With this form of violation, the child has difficulty planning the sequence of voluntary movements.
  • Articular dyspraxia. It is difficult for a child to control the muscles involved in the formation of speech, reproduce sounds and words, his breathing is disturbed. It is difficult for the correct arrangement of words when constructing sentences, making it difficult for a child to express their thoughts.
  • Constructive dyspraxia. The spatial orientation of the child is broken, confuses right / left; up / down It is difficult for him to play with cubes and puzzles, as well as to draw objects, taking into account his position in space.
  • Respiratory dyspraxia. Disorders of respiratory coordination cause respiratory dysfunction; Possible violations of the act of swallowing.
  • Ophthalmologic dyspraxia. With this violation, it is difficult for the child to control the movement of the eyeballs. While reading, he is forced to move his head to concentrate on the prayer, since the child can not follow the lines only with the help of his eyes.

Key indicators of dyspraxia:

What concomitant difficulties can occur in children with dyspraxia?

For children with dyspraxia, other learning and attention difficulties are often encountered. Experts call this comorbid disorder. If your child has dyspraxia, here are some other learning and attention issues that you may want to read:

Dyslexia: learning difficulties in fluent reading.
Dyscalculia: difficulty with mathematics. Children with dyscalcology may have problems remembering basic mathematical concepts, such as 2 + 2 = 4, performing calculations, understanding the number and duration (for example, how long a minute lasts).
Dysgraphia: writing problems. Dysgraphia and dyspraxia are very different, but they often have similar symptoms, such as unorganized writing.
