The psychosomatic disorders are physical disorders, alterations but that are not caused by physical illnesses but by psychological illnesses, it is the own mind, in its way of interpreting to its surroundings managing to cause havoc in the organism.

The psychological variables of this disorder can be caused by personality disorders, in how people perceive the threats, the level of tolerance to frustration, environmental stressors. This makes everything perceived as a threat, leaving as a consequence that the body suffers, then activates the sympathetic nervous system and that activation is what causes a series of contradictions in the person.

Types of psychosomatic disorders

  • The headache.
  • Alteration of the dermatological system.
  • Asthma. Respiratory diseases, with an outbreak, the disorder causes it even more.
  • The stomach, the digestive system suffers a lot.
  • All loo related to the heart, feeling of choking, palpitations, not being able to breathe well.
  • At the muscular level, you suffer from contractures, tension, back pain. This is because the body is put in a nervous state and is preparing to run or fight. That is muscle tension inappropriate for the moment in which the person is.

The biopsychosocial model consists in giving an explanation to both health and illness, based on the biological, social and psychological aspects.

The biological part is understood as follows:

  • The genetics that each person has.
  • The lifestyle, more or less healthy, with healthy diets or practices of physical exercise.
The social model is based on the conditions that people have, such as:
  • Be a victim of abuse.
  • Living in extreme poverty is a factor that affects.
  • The accumulation of negative approaches of other people.
It is understood by the psychological part that there are people who tend to:
  • Have anxiety.
  • Negative thoughts.
  • Interpret negativel.
  • They have and transmit a greater sadness.
These three models are influenced by each other, causing and affecting the psychosomatic part, that is to say, these present alterations.

Through the precise actors that affect and touch the nervous system. That is, there is an autonomous nervous system, which is composed of the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The sympathetic is the one that activates the person, every time the brain notices a sympathetic threat, it is preparing for anything, and that alteration is extra, that it is not necessary in exaggeration because the threats are really caused by one's own person, which results in the alteration of the heart, digestive system, muscles, breathing, subjecting it to a wear that is not completely necessary.

Factors of influence for the psychosomatic disorder:

  • Low self-esteem.
  • Lack of skills for decision making.
  • It is also contemplated to be more related to error than success.
  • Negative thoughts and other stressors that are in themselves, in personality factors.

At what age are you most likely to be exposed to these psychosomatic disorders?

When the person becomes more aware is when it affects more, and is that these disorders have to do with stressors, ie the types of stressors that are in the day to day.

A child should not be subject to the factors of daily stress, such as traffic, noise, something that also overwhelms them is immersed in not knowing how to express themselves correctly and this affects them emotionally. As they grow they face stronger problems, and the body becomes resentful.

More than being related to age is the style of coping, if the child does not know how to perform a rapid assessment, whether it is a threat or not. Then he will not know how to determine what a threat is. When you learn to determine the threats, the next evaluation is to understand that you have the resources to face it. But if it is a threat and the child does not have resources, the anxiety or stress response that has a quite remarkable impact on the psychosomatic part is triggered.

How do we avoid being in constant stress and, as far as possible, avoid suffering from psychosomatic disorders?

It is possible to avoid it, because even if it has a genetic vulnerability, something predetermined, it will change the way in which events are valued, through a series of techniques such as:

  • The relaxation. Which involves doing a series of exercises in which the muscles relax.
  • Live a healthy life, that is, eat healthy, rest.
  • Doing sports.
  • The organization in all aspects.
  • Always have humor and sympathy.
This helps more or less to live a life like the one that does not have stress.

  • Help them to know their emotions and work in such a way that they find the positive in the negative.
  • To know in depth without overwhelming, as is the day to day, what they do, as they are doing, to know a little of their moments.
  • Look for games, funny chats, riddles, and so you will see the source of discomfort, determining the causes and it will be much easier to intervene.

Relaxation activity to help with the psychosomatic disorder

The game of the rag doll.

This technique is fun and kids love it and, at the same time, it allows them to relax, without thinking about the many things that come to mind, overwhelming them and taking the body of what is not, releasing all the tension, the mind.

Meditation and relaxation are the correct way to approach children with this disorder. With this game the children will adopt the pose of the rag doll. The children are told, they observe what the rag doll looks like, and what they will see is that the doll is well stretched, relaxed, sitting, in whatever position they have, what they will observe is a state of tranquility and that, is what is sought to acquire in children through the game.

You can ask him the differences between a robot and a rag doll. When you find that the robot is always rigid, tense and that the rag doll is light and loose, your body will also be light and unloaded.

It is necessary to interact with the rag doll making movements with it, so that the child can interpret it in himself.

It is necessary and important to teach children more than to find threats, it is to look for signs of safety to learn to manage stress and thus allow themselves to feel comfortable.
