The use of time: waste of a non-renewable resource, in education.
After a long vacation, we are already in school and have entered the classroom. Seated now and we began to observe the class. Perhaps the first thing we can notice is that, although the entrance schedule is at seven in the morning or at one in the afternoon for the second shift, the classes almost never start at the exact hour. Ten, fifteen or twenty minutes pass before the activities begin.

In general, this seems to be a surprising feature of our public school and one of the characteristics that most differentiate it from the private school: a lot of time is wasted.
Start after the hour and finish before. Twenty minutes before regulation, you are already leaving many children in your schools. It is common for at least one Friday of each month to suspend activities after half a day of work (mid-morning or mid-afternoon), on the occasion of the Teachers' Councils or other tasks of the teachers.

This is the case of Mother's Day, Christmas, Feeding Day, Carnival. I do not criticize being commemorated, but the dedicated class time is extraordinary: making cards and decorations, preparing posters, breaking any continuity in real school work.
All these activities are joined by national celebrations and others are local, such as the anniversary of the school. We also have the problems that are part of daily life in public schools: there is no water, there is no light or the thugs have stolen the school at night; for one reason or another there is no class.
There is also the case that the teacher could not attend class because he got sick and the school does not have the staff assigned to cover the teacher. If the absence is for one or two days, then the children are left without classes. If it is longer, the teacher should be responsible for finding a substitute.

Together, all these circumstances mean minute by minute, day by day, a considerable loss of class time. A precious time, that the children can not recover. Children in stages of life when education can have a crucial impact, since it can not be done later.
