My Childhood Days in the Home Counties of England, 1966-70
This is original unedited digitised cine film footage of my childhood days in the Home Counties, England from 1966 to 1969.
Included in this film are :
- Me in a dodgem / bumper car driven by my middle sister's 'boyfriend' David. I believe this was at Wicksteed Park
- My middle sister and 'boyfriend' on the merry-go-round / carousel
- My sixth birthday party - I'm pretty sure it was my sixth as there appear to be 6 candles on the cake (pity it's so dark)
- Jumping to when I was about 10 this is me and my middle sister picking the apples from our little apple tree. My most excellent pet dog Scampie was there in possibly his only appearance on film.
- Me at the District School Sports, aged about 9, running in the relay team for my school. I ran and I ran and I ran... but who knows where I finished (I'm pretty sure it wasn't first).

I so remember the bumper cars. It was such a dilemma! Let someone else drive who will get the car going well or drive myself but get stuck in a corner!
One thing that really stands out in these films is that your sisters knew how to move and sit in (short) skirts so they don't flash anyone. Parents right now seem to not know how/what to teach their kids about skirts.
Such a great time for a kid in Britain. You are lucky to have these times on film. Legend has it you are still running.
