You add all the amount of STEEM in the current round and if it exceeds 45 steem any bet higher will be at a loss.
So last round the round was at 32 STEEM and it was profitable. But when you bet 10 SBD you pushed the total round to 63 STEEM and therefore everyone loses out.
If you bet 5 steem then you would have got 9 steem boost because of the total being low. But since your bid was 30 steem it pushed the total way up and it drains the boost.
