Hope you're all well!

After my video on Friday... I noticed that quite a few posts on the Steem Blockchain were extremely doubtful to whether this tragedy happened or not.

I was initially frustrated with these posts, to me it felt like they completely disregarded the lives lost and cheapened this whole situation without reason... but the more I thought about it, the more I realised that most of these posts also had an agenda... in much of a similar way to the main stream media they completely distrust.

The more I thought about it, the more I realised that everyone has an agenda. People rarely put effort into something unless they get something out of it. Most of the people doubtful of the NZ tragedy are on Steem because they've been blocked by other platforms... which means the Steem Blockchain might be more heavily weighted towards anarchy than anything else.

This means you really have to work to find a news source that you trust. What is their motivation for doing all their work... is it to sell advertising? Is it to keep their guns? Are they trying to lobby lawmakers? Are they trying to make money on the stock market?

Don't necessarily trust reports or articles that you find on the Steem blockchain either; people on here have their own motivations... and once you work out what they are, then you can work out who you might trust and who you might not. How much research does the author do? Are they an expert in this field? What might their bias be?

It's obviously troubling that most people get their news from Facebook, and that it's mostly just reading headlines... but it's also important not to make similar mistakes on this blockchain too.

It's totally okay not to not everything (or anything) about a topic. That doesn't make your opinions any less valid... but if we all understand that all of us lack a megaton of information on all topics, then maybe we can all be more open to new ideas, new concepts, new thoughts and new information sources.
