Birthday Suit in the High Tunnel | Gardening Season Commences
What a lovely day it has been! We are soaking every little bit up because next week it's going to get coooold again and we work outside of the homested most days this week!
Needless to say, we did enjoy this day to its fullest. As I stepped outside this morning and was amazed at how beautiful the sun felt on my skin, my ears also perked up and begged for some coverage. Twas a windy day indeed. But, if there's one semi-outdoor space where we can get the best of these two worlds, it's the high tunnel!
In the high tunnel, we are shielded from the wind and the sun is intensified. Quite a bitch in summer, but the absolute perfect in the late days of winter.
Ini has been trying to instigate laying out the high tunnel beds for next year and I've been putting him off. Today was the perfect day to... dig in (all puns intended.)
In our first... DTUBE vid!!!... in a while, you'll hear from both of us as we start setting up the beds and walk through the layout. It was probably 75 degrees in there, easy, so the vid also features Ini in his birthday suit (his birthday is in a couple weeks so it's an early celebration perhaps!)
Visioning into manifestation is always a fun step. Sometimes we get into trouble because visioning nearly always makes the loads seem lighter and the manifestation more possible. We've learned to scale back, give things more time and take things a bit slower. Good homesteading advice right there!
Ini made a map of our garden bed layout and you are the first to see it!
The two middle beds will be filled with figs, leaving space inbetween for a small foot path and an eventual rocket mass heater. Two paths on the outside of that lead to a series of beds on either side which will be our intensive veggie/crop growing beds. Exciting!
While we cannot wait for spring around these parts, it's days like today that remind us that it's right around the corner... or at least we'll get hints of it here and there while it's still utterly cold and nasty on other days!

HAHAHA! I love this, classic naked gardening. Who is able to do that! (No sleeves to wipe that wet brow though :) Can't wait to see the figs! A regular garden of Eden you'll have on your hands! Cheers to the spring season @mountainjewel oxox

Love this post which deserves a special place in both the @homesteaderscoop and @naturalmedicine halls of fame. Just imagine how much natural vitamin D is being generated in this young fellow while preparing for a healthy harvest from the homestead, and other pleasures. Leslie got a big kick out of this. Its a great day here to work in the greenhouse too. I'm out of here.
