Dedina kovaná v čase
Dedina kovaná v čase is, well i don't really know how it could be called in English :) it is not a play, not a musical, it has a story but it is not strictly sticking to it. Created by Kreativni centar za turizam, umetnost i kulturu from Kovacica, it is a story about how and why Slovaks came here and their life in those days.
I was traveling with them to Stara Pazova and made some clips and mixed it together.
Enjoy or don't :D

I love the video! I was very curious to see it and I must honestly say that I don't recognize a lot of Slovak traditions in there. Let me explain...
I don't recognize the dresses. Do you know from which part of Slovakia are they or is it something what Slovaks took over from Serbians? They are beautiful but I haven't seen the dresses that are blue only.
Also I don't recognize the songs :) They do sound like Slovak traditional songs but I don't recognize them :)
Overall, it was a very nice happening and it looks like people had a lot of fun. I don't know exactly why Slovaks left to Serbia at that time but I will check it out :)
Thank you for sharing! It was fun to watch :)
thanks
as an non dresses expert (and from what i learned photographing for a book) every village that came here had in the later years their own Slovak dresses. For Kovacica what i found out (in a quick research :) ) a lot of the families were from Novohrad area (maybe a bit up too, because when we were in Banská Bystrica most of the people understood our Slovakian as we speak old Slovakian mixed with a bit of Serbian, they also knew some of the songs)
Now looking at the map, Slovaks in Padina and Kovacica came from different parts of Stredné Slovensko.
Music in this video should be specific for people here as this are the songs that were made by Slovaks that lived here.
They ( we :) ) came here in the begging of 1800, in Padina 1806, as this land was occupied by Turks (Ottoman empire) and when this part was liberated they promised Slovaks lands and houses to come and live here as they needed people because this parts were close to the new border.
This was a story about how they came here (first song "zbohom otec, zbohom mati, sestra, brat."), a brief overall history about their life, religion, struggles, and about recruitment to the war (can't remember the title of the song, it is really sad and powerful and she sang it great you can feel the emotion).
