The Great Machine is a series of dark ambient tracks based on background material for a novella that I wrote a long time ago... back when I fancied myself a horror writer. "Labyrinth of Ash" is the fourth of the series. The "rain of debris" that plays throughout consists of approximately twelve recorded ambient sounds*. The timing is programmed but the pitches, as well as what sound plays at which time, is random... meaning that if I were to export this song again from my DAW, it would sound different. The song that you hear is totally unique and can never be reproduced exactly... a concept that I fully intend to explore again in other tracks.
